After getting it, the player can find the Longshot in dungeons or caves. These objects include pots, jars, skulls, and small chests. With the Hookshot, Link can grapple onto several objects to pull him over water, chasms, et cetera. It is required in order to get Caladbolg and the Royal Rapier. The Hookshot allows Link to explore many areas, both in dungeons and, primarily, in the Dark World. The element that decides this is the weight of the object in comparison to Link. This includes, but is not limited to blocks, targets, wooden beams, chests, and enemies. They are a hook that stretches out on a chain allowing Link to attach to various items and pull himself towards them. If you need help, have any questions or ideas e-mail me Music By Tenurian. In Cadence of Hyrule, the Hookshot is an optional permanent item that can be used to cross gaps. Hookshots are recurring items in The Legend of Zelda series. Need a killer Zelda prop for your killer Zelda cosplay, without putting a killer hole in your wallet Look no further This functional hookshot will definitely get some attention at conventions, parties and Halloween Costing around 30 to make. If a character picks up the power-up for the Hookshot, it can be used to pull down the Moon on to the enemy that was targeted. The Hookshot can be used to reach certain platforms, pull the character to enemies, and to bring down Argorok. In Hyrule Warriors, the Hookshot is a sub-weapon that is obtainable in Legend Mode's The Shadow King scenario. Method 1: Using Hookshot on Epona Latch onto something while on Epona (you need a blank B button to use hookshot on Epona), then fly to the place you shot and you will get a hookshot jump, depending on how high you aimed. This section describes a subject that is or may be outside the core Zelda canon. It is important to note that the higher up you aim the hookshot, the higher you will go. Grab and Drag: First make a ranged attack against one target as an action. A grab and drag ability then a hook and scale ability. Damage: 1d6 Range: 30 feet (can be upgraded) Time: 1 action This item has two different abilities. It can hook on to anything that is made of wood, and thus can be utilized to travel over gaps. It looks roughly like a crossbow with a rope, hook, and rope cranking wheel. In A Link Between Worlds, the Hookshot can be rented from Ravio through his shop. If you are still having issues installing or want help knowing how to do something with the pack, ask for help on our discord. The Hookshot in The Wind Waker is very similar to the one in Ocarina of Time, with the exception of the fact that if Link wears Iron Boots while using the Hookshot, several objects will be pulled toward him. To install, follow the instructions contained in the “instructions.txt” file included in the download. On a hit, if the target is a creature, it must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn. Make a ranged attack roll against a creature, with a range of (25/50) feet. Bow is an item in almost every game and its been turned into a regular weapon type. The Hookshot can also be used to stun people. Once pulled, you will be dropped at the location it hit, and can take fall damage. As far as missing staples.theres nothing else I can think of. If a non-wooden block is hit, it will bounce off and return to the player. If a mob is hit, it will take a small amount of damage and be stunned for a short time. If it hits an item, it will pull that item back to the player. It then generates the chain in front of you, which the player will get pulled by if the end of the chain hits a wooden block. The pack runs a ray trace of where you are looking. The hook shot is one of those items that usually open up quite a bit in the worlds of the Legend of Zelda games, especially in the shortcut department. It functions very similarly to the Clawshot datapack but isn’t as overpowered. It will then pull the player to the block and hold them there. The Hookshot shoots out a hook that can latch on to any wooden blocks. The Zelda Hookshot datapack adds a new item to the game, the Hookshot.

I think we miss a lot when we treat the book as a bucket into which verbal structures can be poured, in order to carry them conveniently from the mind of an author to the mind of a reader. My general-audience writing and my scholarly writing are both efforts to deprogram people who’ve passed through English comp by giving them permission to think about the book as an object, rather than leaping straight over the material object to the words it contains. LP: One thing that most English professors share with many amateur literature lovers is embarrassment about their relation to the book as a material object. ME: Thanks! But what about writing for that audience, or those audiences, if you prefer the plural? I know you don’t identify as a book historian, but one of the things I learned from your book Paraliterary is not to lump all readers outside the university into a single negatively defined kitchen sink. On the other hand, book historians problematize the category of the general reader or the common reader by emphasizing other distinctions that cut across the academic/nonacademic divide. So book history on the one hand often claims to speak for an otherwise disempowered general reader. Authors leave a written print and readers often don’t, which raises a lot of problems of evidence for book history. That makes book history a democratizing impulse, because authors are few and readers are many. Which means that book history in itself represents a shift in understanding: from looking at texts through the vantage point of the author to looking at texts from the vantage point of the reader. In the anglophone world, one origin for book history was Cold War–era cultural studies (I’m thinking here of classics like Richard Hoggart’s Uses of Literacy). From its beginnings it has been a populist discipline. We are not ashamed of judging a book by its cover or patting the bunny when we read aloud to our kids or arranging the books on our shelves by color.Īnd book history has always spoken toward a nonexpert audience. I think book historians have a particularly important role in counteracting that perception of the academy, because for all our nerdiness, book historians are aligned with amateur literature lovers against the verbal focus of literary critics. Leah Price (LP): Book historians and scholars in general are sometimes perceived by literature lovers as killjoys-as if what makes us academics is that we are literature haters, the ones reducing a warm, fuzzy, living, breathing experience to an insider’s game. Merve Emre (ME): One of the things I admire about What We Talk About When We Talk About Books is how seamlessly you move between your professional role as a book historian and your nonprofessional identity as a “literature lover.” As a book historian, what do you perceive to be the difference between a literary critic and a lover of literature? “Show me how you want to read,” Price writes, “and I’ll show you what you want to be.” Price’s book gives her readers permission to embrace all the childish, romantic, fantastic, fatalistic, and radical attachments we develop to our books, and through them, to the people with whom we read. Readers today believe that they are living through unprecedented changes in how they read, but Price shows how the history of reading has always been shaped by the rise of new mediums and materials, demographic changes, technological upheavals, institutional shifts, and judgments about the most virtuous and most villainous practices. Though her specialty is Victorian literature, her new book, What We Talk About When We Talk About Books, considers the history of reading from ancient Rome to the present. Leah Price is a professor of English at Rutgers University and founding director of the Rutgers Initiative for the Book. Was it a work of beauty or a disgraceful display of the naked body that was more appropriate to a bathing house than a church? The Vatican seemed to decide on the latter and to proclaim that nudity was unacceptable in sacred art. The Last Judgment was completed in 1541 and was immediately a cause of great debate. Whether the figures were rich or poor in life, they were all made equal in this painting by a common factor: they were all painted nude. Accordingly, there are a number of figures in the painting, including the saints and the damned. The painting strikingly portrays the Second Coming of Christ and God’s judgment of all mankind. Not least among these masterpieces was the striking floor to ceiling depiction of The Last Judgement, painted by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel (now part of the Vatican Museums). This emphasis of the human figure complemented the emerging understanding at the time of the beauty and dignity of the human person. Renaissance artists imitated and improved upon studies of the human form, particularly in sculpture, but also in paintings. But that hasn’t always been the case.ĭuring the Renaissance, sacred and secular art alike harkened back to the rediscovered masterpieces of the Greeks. Whether it’s a nude depiction of the Christ child and his cousin John the Baptist or the numerous nude statues in the Vatican Museums, the Catholic Church does not shy away from showing all of the human body. If you’ve ever been to the Vatican, or even looked through books of sacred art, you’ll notice that there is quite a bit of nudity. Average arc times ranged from 20 to 25% of the total sampling time. The boiler room average personal breathing zone sample total particulate concentrations ranged from 4.73 mg/m(3) to 5.90 mg/m(3), Fe concentrations ranged from 0.48 to 0.85 mg/m(3), and Mn concentrations ranged from 0.06 to 0.16 mg/m(3). Breezeway average personal breathing zone sample total particulate concentrations ranged from 2.89 mg/m(3) to 4.38 mg/m(3), Fe concentrations ranged from 0.53 to 0.63 mg/m(3), and Mn concentrations ranged from 0.10 to 0.12 mg/m(3). Samples were collected and analyzed for total particulate following NIOSH Method 0500 and for select metals following NIOSH Method 7300. The study is unique in that one welder was evaluated under high production conditions for 2 days at two different welding locations: a boiler room and a breezeway. The resulting breathing zone (near field) and area (far field) welding fume concentration data were applied to the two-zone model for the purpose of determining field-derived personal exposure emission (generation) rates during actual welding work. N2 - This study assessed a professional pipefitter/welder performing shielded metal arc welding on carbon steel under field conditions. JF - Journal of occupational and environmental hygiene T1 - Two-zone model application to breathing zone and area welding fume concentration data. This study emphasizes the need for field-derived welding fume generation rates and showed the personal breathing zone and area sample concentrations can be described by the two-zone model in a way that may help the industrial hygienist estimate exposures. The field-based generation rates were considerably lower than laboratory-derived published emission rates of between 280 and 650 mg/min for TP. The average generation rate in the breezeway was 40.0 mg/min for TP, 6.6 mg/min for Fe, and 1.2 mg/min for Mn. The average generation rate in the boiler room was 39.2 mg/min for TP, 6.4 mg/min for Fe, and 1.3 mg/min for Mn. The steady-state form of the two-zone model was applied to long-term and short-term sample total particulate, Fe, and Mn concentrations obtained during welding in the boiler room and breezeway. Both tracer gas and anemometer techniques were used to estimate ventilation of the boiler room. Recommendations include keeping worker blood ZPP concentrations from rising excessively and improving the respirator program. This study assessed a professional pipefitter/welder performing shielded metal arc welding on carbon steel under field conditions. Maintenance and janitorial personnel have the greatest potential for lead exposure. The authors conclude that there is no definite pattern in the company blood lead/ZPP data. Improper use of respirators was observed. Urine arsenic concentrations were within the normal range. No pattern of medically unexplained discrepancies between blood lead and ZPP concentrations was detected. Arsenic, stibine, and antimony exposures were below the OSHA standards. Highest exposures were among janitor and maintenance workers. Eleven percent of 675 lead breathing zone samples exceeded the OSHA standard of 50 micrograms per cubic meter. The company respirator program was reviewed. Urine samples were obtained from 49 workers and analyzed for arsenic. Company lead monitoring and blood lead data was reviewed. Concern was expressed about apparent physiological discrepancies between blood lead and zinc-protoporphyrin (ZPP) concentrations in certain workers. The evaluation was requested by the union to assess exposures to lead (7439921) and other substances. Environmental and breathing zone samples were analyzed for inorganic arsenic (7440382), stibine (7803523), antimony (7440360), and sulfuric-acid (7664939) at Johnson Controls, Incorporated (SIC-3691), Owosso, Michigan in November, 1983 and April, 1984. For the first 30 days, user will be able to upload unlimited numbers of photos and videos. But, there is a limitation in case of uploading. Yes, it's totally free from editing to sharing your contents. Your photos will remain with you anywhere anytime. With the addition of sync feature, your photos will be backed up in cloud storage securely and can be synced over all your devices.Your Photos and videos can be shared on your favourite social networks so that your friends too can become a part of your moments. There is option for writing caption and for publishing comments to make your memories speak more. You don't have to suffer like 'Damn! Where did I keep that photo!'. You can create album in private web galleries to organize them in the way you want.Ofcourse, there will be full control in your hand who can view your photos and who can add. You can create group library where you can invite your friends and family to join and contribute. Most considering part is that, the Adobe Revel is integrated with Photoshop element 12 and Premiere element 12 so that user can get the most out of it. It is enhanced with some popular photo editing tools such as cropping, color adjustment, filter, exposure control etc. Yes, as I said, you can edit your digital photos and videos. The app get installed on any devices running on android 4.0 Jelly Bean or higher. From the rating point of view, it's getting 4.4 out of 5 till the moment. The Adobe Revel is getting quite positive responses from the users on Google Play store. In fact, it's a one stop place for your photos and videos to edit, store, organize and to share with your loved ones. Well, it will be wrong just saying it as photo editing and photo sharing app. The Adobe Revel is now available on Google Play store and can be downloaded for free. It takes quite so long to come up to Android, as though the app was launched for iOS 3 years ago in the year 2011. You can also add media or change the sort order.Adobe has finally brought its photo editing and photo sharing app Adobe Revel to Android platform. Calling up the app bar presents options for adding photos to an Album, sharing to Facebook (more on that in the Sharing section below), deleting, viewing in "Card view" which presents a pleasing, swipeable post-card style view of your photos. Creating new libraries requires a paid account. The first lets you select among any Revel, or remaining Carousel libraries attributed to your Adobe account login. Viewing Revel's very simple initial interface just shows two options, Library and Albums. Adobe may take note that SkyDrive options in Windows 8.1 let users have their photos and videos automatically uploaded to a folder on SkyDrive, which, by the way, offers very respectable online galleries itself. Any video entries in your Windows 8 Revel app appear as still photos, and no editing or playing is possible. There's no camera mode in the Windows 8 Revel app, though, so you can't add photos from within the app as you can in Revel for iOS.Īnother big thing that the iPhone version of Revel can do that the Windows 8 version can't: Upload videos. Of course, you could also set up a Windows 8 device to upload to SkyDrive. So for Windows 8, Revel can act like iCloud Photo Stream. Uploading Revel's Auto Import option, accessed through the app's Settings charm, uploads photos as soon as they appear in a specified folder, the most likely candidate for which is the Pictures folder, where photos you shoot with the Windows 8 device are saved. The $5.99-a-month paid account allows unlimited uploads. I mentioned the free account, but with that you're limited to just 50 photo uploads per month. To use Revel, you need to create or sign in to an Adobe account, as the appealing welcome page notes. I installed the app on a Surface Pro tablet with a dual-core 1.7GHz Core i5 processor and 4GB RAM, and it ran just as speedily as I could have wanted. Unfortunately, it only works on x86- and 圆4-based CPUs, not on the ARM-based RT tablets it requires 2GB minimum RAM. Install and Setup As with any new-style Windows 8 apps, you get Revel from the Windows Store. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security Software. For example, when you release a CD, you may profit (or have a net loss) from the CD sales, but gaining experience with certain musical genres is how you unlock more musical genres, so it's not as simple as, "This isn't projected to be profitable, therefore I'm not going to do it," because you might want to release some music in a specific genre (even if its at a loss) so you can target listeners in adjacent genres in the future. One of the ways that we're trying to make each choice meaningful is by attaching both short-term and long-term consequences to your actions. (For example, you need to pay salaries to employees and pay upkeep for the building space you use you don't have to go through a process to make these payments, as the amount of money will just be automatically deducted from your company balance on the due date.) The sim element is intended to limit engagement to the moments when you're either making a decision or receiving an important piece of information, stuff like "maintenance" will be done automatically. We intentionally kept our initial funding goal on the lower side to budget for the minimum amount of assets we'd need to create to be happy with the game in its finished state, and any additional funds we get above that initial goal will let us add more art and content beyond what we originally planned. Completing the game without additional funding would be a big setback, but we'd find a way to make it happen (whether that meant releasing the game with less art and other assets than originally planned, or delaying the game so we could save up money to fund it ourselves).įortunately, we probably won't have to deal with that possibility I don't want to start counting chickens before they've hatched, but we've already hit 40% of our minimum funding goal and the project has only been live for 40 minutes, so I'm pretty optimistic about us being able to meet our goal. We've put too much work into this to just walk away from it if the Kickstarter fails to fund I've been working on this project since 2015 and the lead dev Max has been working on it even longer than that. (And even if people don't question your motivations, putting a bad singer on lead vocals doesn't sell very many CDs or concert tickets.) Maybe someone is genuinely infatuated and wanders into a relationship with the expectation that you'll be in love forever and get married have a million beautiful kids together, will you be able to say yes to that? If you say no, how will she react? And if you say yes, how will the people around you react? Even setting aside the specific issue of a relationship between a manager and the talent, there are a lot of real-life idol groups that have "no dating" policies because some fans want to maintain the fantasy of the idols being pure, chaste, and unattached. Maybe someone wants to get more attention in the spotlight: deny her preferential treatment and you may have to deal with a jilted lover give her preferential treatment and others may start to notice and question why a bad singer is getting put on lead vocals. When it comes to "romantic" involvement, consider the counter-party and their motivations. Part of affirming the idea that "your actions have consequences" means not making the player feel like they're caught off guard, so when bad things do happen, it feels justified. The game will involve some weighty topics like bullying and depression, and there is definitely a certain dissonance between the moe visuals and the potentially dark subject matter, but we're not really out to "shock" the player. This lets us avoid a lot of explicit moralizing rather than wagging our finger and saying, "How dare you," we can just say, "Look, someone found out about what you're doing and is blackmailing you, and that hush money is going to come out of your bottom line," or "Hey, your story went public and now advertisers consider you radioactive and a huge chunk of your revenue is gone." Or maybe the idols think that you're playing favorites start performing worse, disrespecting you as a manager, or bullying someone who they perceive as getting preferential treatment. If you engage in some scandalous activity, there is a risk of getting caught (depending on how flagrant you are about it), and that's obviously going to have implications for your business. That being said, one of the things that we get to do because we have more "game" elements than a typical visual novel, and we can use that in a way that supports the narrative. One of the major themes of this game is that your actions have consequences, and part of that is making sure that certain outcomes, including "bad" outcomes, feel like they're "earned" in a way that makes the player think "Yeah, I deserved that," or at least have an understanding of why it happened. This feeling is further accentuated by the fact that you get to visit some of the poorer parts of Rapture, which look significantly different from the brightly lit and luxurious-looking areas that you may be used to from the first game. If the first game felt like you were exploring a dying city, now it feels like you are trudging through its ruins. Of course, the locations are different, but the retro-inspired style of the city stays the same, with the difference being that now everything looks even more dilapidated and neglected. A lot of what’s on offer in the second game will look and feel familiar if you’ve already played the first game. If you liked the setting of the first game – the dark and mysterious underwater city of Rapture – there’s more of that in BioShock 2. The first game’s antagonist and founder of Rapture, Andrew Ryan, is long gone in BioShock 2 and now the city’s leader and antagonist of the second game is a woman named Sofia Lamb, who is just as dastardly, if not more so, as Ryan himself. The game is set some ten years after the events that took place in BioShock 1, and the underwater city now looks even more decrepit and run-down than ever. On the other hand, if you want to first find out more about the game itself, stay with us, as we share with you throughout the following lines our thoughts about BioShock 2 Remastered.Īs we said, like the first game, BioShock 2 takes place in the city of Rapture. If you want to play BioShock 2 Remastered on your Mac right now, head down to the second half of this article to learn about the different ways you can do so. This time, however, the player is given the opportunity to experience the world of Rapture through the eyes of the first-ever Big Daddy, which is a type of tough and intimidating enemy featured in the first game. Also, the remaster gives the game an official macOS version that can run without a problem on newer macOS releases, such as Big Sur, Monterey, or the upcoming macOS Ventura.Īs for the game itself, it is the second one in the universally-acclaimed BioShock single-player FPS series with RPG elements, and it brings the player back into the depths of the North Atlantic, to the infamous underwater city of Rapture, located at the ocean’s floor. You can play BioShock 2 Remastered on Mac by downloading from Steam or from the App Store, or by using Boosteroid.īioShock 2’s remastered version isn’t about making any huge changes to the original BioShock 2 game, but rather about making slight improvements to give the game an updated look and better performance on modern systems. How to play BioShock 2 Remastered on MacīioShock 2 Remastered is a single-player FPS game, the sequel to the highly-popular BioShock game, and it can be played natively on Mac. I’ve bougt this Ipod to listen to music during sport activity, I’ve tested it and it sounds great. On the 3G I found a cver with a clip… I’ll try to find a cover with a clip for this new Ipod, that’s not a problem. I’ve recently bought an ipod 7G in substitution of a 3G (8 Mb) which was stolen. But for my taste, even with all the new nanos upgrades, I am still partial to the 6th generation nano. If you are in the market for a versatile portable music player, you won’t go wrong with this one. Overall, the 7th generation nano has some nice upgrades and features. You will be asked if you want to download the information when you sync your nano. The Nike+ app also allows you to download the latest information from your nano to your Nike+ webpage. The resolution is nice for a small screen, and in a pinch, it is usable.įor you Nike+ fans, you can still use the Nike+ iPod Sensor without the need for the plug-in receiver. As for the video playback feature, I tried it out and found it is nice to have, but with such a small screen size, I would not utilize this feature much. With so many Bluetooth-compatible devices being made (headphones, speakers and even cars), you now have many more options and versatility for your music playback. The Bluetooth integration, for me, is the most exciting aspect of the new 7th generation nano. While the operating systems for the 6th and 7th generation nanos are the same, the 7th did pick up Bluetooth and the ability to play videos. The pre-loaded software on the 7th generation nano includes Radio, Clock, Fitness, Music, Videos, Photos and Podcast. Although they are still not the most comfortable headphones I have used, they are great to throw in a bag for backup purposes. The newly designed EarPods seem to fit a lot better and are designed to fit a wider range of ear sizes. In my case, they started to hurt my ears after about 10 minutes of use. The original earphones for the first through 6th generations were simple in design and did not fit a large number of users comfortably. One of the nice surprises with the new nano is the included Apple EarPods. Older 30-pin cables and accessories cannot be used with the new nano without the use of an adapter. The clip is one of the features I like on the 6th gen nano, and the clip, believe it or not, is a big selling point for me.Īnother change that might not be evident to a new iPod device user is the new Lightning connector and the Lightning-to-USB charging/syncing cable. Looking at the back of both nanos, you will also see that the new nano does not have a built-in clip like the older 6th generation does. The slate nano is the one I decided to purchase. The only color I do like is the slate color nano that is dark gray/slate on the back and black on the front. That being said, I don’t think that would stop anyone from buying one, not even me. I imagine that the nano and the new iPod touch are being marketed more to a kid/teen crowd. In my opinion, it makes the new nano look feminine at best, and childish at worst. While I like the color choices for the back of the nano, the white front does turns me off. Although this is a personal issue, I have seen it mirrored by many reviewers I don’t like the color design. You will also receive the obligatory user guides, safety manuals, and one of my favorite items, the Apple stickers.īefore I go any further, let me bring up my biggest complaint with the new 7th generation nano. When you open the package, you will see that you get the new Lightning syncing/charging cable and the new EarPod headphones with the nano. Last.fm option to submit any kind of media not just music. The nano comes in a minimal, plastic package designed to show off the product, not hide it.Translation issue with terms containing line feeds icons can be removed from minelayer.Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7ĭownload the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. The program may be able to fix an iPod if other software caused problems. Floola supports all most common used iPod features including podcasts, smart playlists, notifications, search lost/duplicate files, videos, HTML list export, etc. It is a cross-platform program that can run directly from your iPod. Floola is a standalone application to manage your iPod (iTunes 7.3 and below) or your Motorola mobile phone (any model supporting iTunes). Damage taken is reflected in the player's overall health, which can be recovered normally with food or at certain shops and healers. The game then enters a third-person perspective action mode, where the player can attack, dodge, reflect and counterattack enemies and traps represented by the cards that were drawn. If the player encounters a monster or maze of traps, the number and type of enemy are determined by cards drawn by the Dealer (if any). The latter three can augment the player's attack power, defensive power, health, speed, or provide special abilities or conditions both inside and out of combat. Each movement step consumes food, and certain events can cause the player to gain or lose health, food, gold, blessings, curses, or equipment. Some of these events include a tree of options that the player can choose, while chance is presented as four shuffled cards representing rates of success or failure. When each card is encountered, the Dealer narrates the event and resolves its effects.Įvents can include meeting non-player characters, shops to buy and sell cards that benefit the player for the remainder of that dungeon, enemy encounters, or chance events that may benefit or hinder the player. To navigate each floor of the dungeon, the player moves a token across the tableau one card at a time, revealing it if face down. The player starts with a limited amount of health, food, and initial equipment, modified by the player's selected class card and certain conditions obtained over the course of the story. In addition to random encounters, each floor also includes either an exit encounter that lets the player reach the next floor or a boss encounter on the final floor of that dungeon. To progress in Story Mode, the player must complete a "dungeon" by exploring two or more "floors" created by a tableau of randomized, face-down encounter cards dealt from the combined deck of both player and Dealer. After a certain number of these bosses are defeated, the player also unlocks Endless Mode, which provides an infinite number of "floors" of increasing difficulty for the player to challenge with every card they have collected up to that point. These bosses, representing the royalty of each suit, must be defeated in order, but the player can return to previous bosses to challenge again and unlock new rewards. In the game's Story Mode, the player must defeat thirteen bosses: twelve court cards and the Dealer himself. Furthermore, the dealer has his own deck from which surprising elements such as more challenging encounters and monsters are drawn that also grows as the player gains cards and progresses through the game. The player earns more cards as they progress in the game, which they can use to customize their deck up to a fixed size. On starting a new game, the player is given a starting deck of cards, consisting of equipment, hero class, and encounter cards. He also serves as the primary antagonist for the game. This dealer narrates the player's adventure, dealing the game's cards, rewards, penalties, lore, and commentary. The player takes the role of a nameless hero that meets a strange Dealer voiced by Anthony Skordi, in a "cabin at the end of the world". Hand of Fate is an action role-playing video game with roguelike and deck-building elements. A sequel, Hand of Fate 2, was released in November 2017. Hand of Fate received generally positive reviews, and led to the successful crowdfunded physical variation of the game. As the player progresses, they can earn tokens, which, upon completion of a dungeon (successfully or not), gain them additional cards that they can use to customize their decks for the next dungeon run. When combat occurs, the game switches to a third-person perspective brawler-style game, requiring the player to time attacks, blocks, dodges, and other abilities to defeat enemies without losing all their health. Most of the game is played through an in-game tabletop tableau, with the player's actions narrated and executed by the mysterious Dealer, at times requiring the player to make choices to proceed. Hand of Fate has the player work their way through randomized dungeons, generated by cards selected from customizable decks, to try to reach a final boss of each dungeon. A PlayStation Vita version was announced but ultimately cancelled due to development issues. Hand of Fate is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Australian studio Defiant Development for Linux, macOS, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, released via early access on 7 July 2014, and then in the full release on 17 February 2015. |
